I was in Chicago this past weekend and tried Marina’s Bistro in Uptown for the first time. I loved it so much I went back twice in the same week. The food was incredibly delicious and comforting. It honestly tasted like someone’s mom or grandma was back there cooking with love.
I love Puerto Rican food and this place is the real deal. What really stood out to me is that they offer something for everyone. They have gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options, along with dishes for meat eaters too. I tried a mix of it all, and even the vegetarian and vegan options were so full of flavor that I did not feel like I was missing anything.
Some of my favorites were:
Arroz con gandules
Mofongo with impossible meat picadillo
Chicken with the majado
Avocado salad
Sorullos
Their cocktails and mocktails are also amazing!
The place is super cute and welcoming. The service was great and everyone made us feel right at home. We even got to meet the chef and mis respetos to him. Such a nice guy and an amazing cook.
This is absolutely a spot I will keep coming back to. I want to try everything on the menu. Highly recommend!
