Good to know

1

Shared fryers are not gluten-free, confirming potential cross-contamination risk.

2

It would be helpful to have clearly marked allergy-friendly options available.

3

Happy hour food specials are available, check for specific times.

This is, by far, my favorite place to eat. I am a celiac and have quite a bit of anxiety going out but our server, Alfie, was amazing. He put me right at ease by going through every item on the menu to let me know what was gluten free and what could be modified. Lobster rolls were the bomb and halibut was amazing. I never finish a meal and there was not one bite left on my plate. We will definitely be regulars and thank you Alfie for the amazing service.

Celiac Review: Lovely atmosphere. We have eaten there many times since my parents moved here in 07. Over the years It’s been a go to spot and usually the first or last place we eat as it’s been a “spot “ for family things, so full of memories and the food is good. As someone who’s suffered from celiac for 21 years; The staff has always taken great care of me. This time was very different. The Waiter this time was knowledgeable and also aggressive. I felt he really tried to force us to order things. I’ve never said no thank you so many times for something I’m expected to pay for; It did not come across as helpful. In addition despite stating he was allergy aware. He was not. Shared fryers are not gluten free. After disputing me when I questioned it. He went to the chef. Returning to tell me I was correct. But also faith that you’re not going to hurt me also left the room at that point. I Ordered Cobb Salad and chicken. No ability to make any substitutions I asked for no corn. Told it wasn’t possible that it was made already. Salad arrived last to table with no chicken. I turned to ask the fellow who brought it. He was gone before I could as the question. I told my parents to eat, sat patiently as they did. 5 minutes after it was taken away. Then brought back. Now we are there 10 minutes waiting on the simplest plate. I got a wonderful unsolicited explanation of how They’d missed it on the order. Obviously. Food was ok, nothing like Market of the past years. I live in NYC it’s equivalent to a salad at Chop’d nowhere near as good as like sweetgreen. These are walk up chain salad places if you’re not aware. I’m allergic to grapes as well. All the dressings had grape vinegar. So dry salad with olive oil. In Napa? Really? For a 35 dollar chicken salad you can’t find me a dressing? My parents swordfish special looked good. The plating was nothing special. A bed of couscous and a piece of swordfish plopped on top. They said they enjoyed it. Started to feel sick after. Not horrendous. But definitely some cross contamination somewhere. Everyone has a bad day. It’s harder to deal With those when it affects your health. I think it will be hard for me to return unless they address the allergy situation better. It would be nice to have e some clearly marked options and a willingness to make something fresh when the menu doesn’t suit someone. I’m not trying to be difficult. Just trying not to pay to get sick. I’ve rated and reviewed my recent visit on gluten free sites as well. Lots of other choices in town. YMMV. But since it’s such a departure from my previous experience. I feel compelled to review for safety of others.
