Edit: John contacted me and went above and beyond in trying to fix this issue! He even talked through what items are gluten free on the menu with more specificity, and offered to refund me. I really appreciate it! I'm so glad Maru is still safe for me to eat at.
I usually love maru and find it very safe to eat at with my gluten allergy. I ordered my normal doordash order, alerting them to the allergy on the doordash app. The receipt even says I did. However, this time the mackerel with the sashimi deluxe came with some sort of topping. When I called to ask what it was, they told me the udon was gluten free (?). I asked again and they said it was seaweed, but it does not look like seaweed. It looks like seasame seeds and green onions mixed with something else. I'm really disappointed they were not able to tell me what it was. In the past they've been super good for allergies... even labeled my soy sauce gluten free, but something went wrong this time.
