All the locals recommend this place, so it was built up pretty high. The food was good and atmosphere fun, but maybe not quite to the hype.
My only issues was almost zero accommodations for food allergies. We have a small child who needs to be gluten free. We were given the “gluten free” menu which was basically a list of their steaks and salads or to order a burger with no bun. I’m not spendings $40 on a steak for a small child, and what child likes salad? We asked about other options, maybe a child-size burger, or grilled chicken (they have grilled chicken sandwich) and we were told no. Just the steaks, salad or full burgers. He’s a kid, he likes his burgers plain. It’s annoying to spend $17 for just a patty that he’ll only eat half of.
And it’s not just about the cost. It’s about making him feel like a normal kid. When his brother orders off a kids menu and gets the fruit and snack and whatever else comes in the kids option he feels left out. It’s pretty uncommon to find a restaurant that will provide zero accommodations in terms of kids meals and gluten free options. Almost all will offer something when they know it’s because of an allergy and go above what we’d ask for. Or even if they don’t do kid size portions, will still give a normal patty when they realize it’s a plain burger with no bun (we bring our own gf buns) we’re asking for as a substitute for a kids meal.
We keep gf snacks and cookies with us for when we visit places like this. But not being willing to accommodate allergies is the difference between coming back or not. And unfortunately their sister restaurants were the same.
Give him a piece of grilled chicken or a patty and treat it like a kids meal so he can feel like the other kids in our party and we’d be back.
