Ahh, the serenity of the Australian bush, just off the beaten track (6km down from Great Western Highway). The Megalong Valley was so quiet and peaceful, and the historic 1956 Tea Room a charming oasis in the Blue Mountains. Good coffee hit the spot! Delicious rustic menu including turkish bead toasties, bacon and egg rolls (with house relish), pot pie, soup of the day, apple pie, traditional scones with housemade blackberry jam and pots of tea. Indoor and outdoor seating, car parking areas, AND Gluten Free bread available - hooray! Staff were super friendly and we will certainly return.

Ploughmans very disappointing - should be the easiest thing to get right - i.e. a big chunk of cheese, ham, pickle, pickled onions, baguette. Instead, baguette and leg ham good, no cheese, very dirty carrots and radishes, pickled cauliflower OK, but pickle would be better. No gluten free options (except very bland gluten free white sliced bread). No salt and pepper to be had anywhere. Considering the name (Megalong Valley Tea Rooms), tea for 2 was disappointing - came in a pot that hadn't been cleaned in a long time with cups, but no saucers, no teaspoons, no sugar. Very friendly young girls serving, but absolutely no idea what to do in the kitchen. Under previous management, they used to bring a lovely tea tray out, offer consiments and had the best gluten-free banana bread and cream, wonderful quiches and baked potatoes (over the years). More gluten free options needed.
