Had dinner at Mia Ragazza in Manayunk last night and had an overall incredible dining experience!
First off, all of the food was amazing—went with a group so I was able to try a variety of items. Started with a few apps and salads. The calamari was a delightful surprise. Done differently than the typical calamari and it didn't disappoint. The “slightly spicy Caesar” was again not your typical Caesar (hint of wasabi!) and it was great. We also had the whipped ricotta—a simple yet highly satisfying treat! They served it with both normal and gluten free “bread” (upon request) that was really more like awesome pizza crust (without the toppings). Then there was the softball-sized meatball (served in marinara) that simply rivaled the best I’ve had. Just lovely.
Entrees included the rolled lasagna—again a slightly different spin on the norm—and it was great (portion size on this one was larger than expected). The bucatini, short rib pappardelle, and chicken parm were all definitely standouts. We also ordered the gluten free pasta with red sauce just to try it (all of the pasta is homemade, even the GF) and it may be the best GF pasta I’ve had. No joke.
Desserts were obscenely good. The layered chocolate cake was not only a piece of art as it came out, but was the size of a human head and tasted like a slice of heaven. Do not miss this one! The affogato was also sinfully good (made with salted caramel ice cream).
Drinks were extremely tasty (creative cocktails menu!) and the service (shout out to Gina!) was wonderful.
One of the biggest pluses of Mia Ragazza was the fact they have amazing GF options—pizzas, bread, and pasta—all made in house. If you’ve got a GF person in your life, you know how hard it is to find good GF options when you dine out. This will not disappoint.
Again, an overall A+ outing. Will be back again soon!!
