Just got home after enjoying a fantastic meal at the Milecastle Inn. A brilliant and atmospheric place full of history. The staff there were brilliant, service was excellent and as for the food, absolutely devine. Although they don't allow dogs inside the building you can eat or drink outside with dogs. My wife has an intolerance to wheat and therefore needed gluten free options. The Inn had plenty of options which we find is fairly rare, but very very welcome. Definitely a well deserved 5 star rating from my wide and I. We didn't stay here so couldnt rate the rooms but I'm sure they'd be fabulous

A proper pub! Make the diversion off the Hadrian's Wall walking path it is worth it.
Friendly service, wonderful food (including fully battered gluten-free fish and chips), proper ale, cozy inside and plenty of outside seating.
