I reeeeally want to like this bakery, but in the end it's just so-so. They don't use real whipped cream on their products, it's a hardened form of cool whip, and the flavor is off. Many items taste like the quality of the ingredients are low as well. I understand costs have gone up, but I'd rather pay more for quality than save money and get something that's just not good.
Their gluten free items are also so-so. Having been gluten free for a decade, I'm able to make much better items at home. Using real butter and other good quality ingredients makes a difference. There are so many superior options nowadays, gluten free is getting better & better.
I will say the atmosphere of their store is adorable! While my husband is also not a fan of their regular baked goods (he can eat gluten), I know many others in the community love them. They also make ice cream, which many people love. Their shop's are a cute visual addition to downtown Mount Airy.
