I have lived in NOLA for over 15years… been visiting over 22… not a huge fan of the drive uptown from where I live in 7th but my visit to Mister Mao was one of the best experiences and dinners I have ever had periodt. I’m not a skilled in describing food- but everything, and I mean everything that we tried was fantastic, many of the flavors were firsts for me and all of them were so wonderful together. This might sound ridiculous but it was smart food, With plenty of spice- The drinks (where i am more of an expert ;) were so so good & there was something for everyone at our table. I don’t care for sweet- other guests did… we all loved what was recommended. Big Up Bonus I have celiacs and we called ahead to make sure I could eat there in the first place- they took extra amazing care of me and made sure nothing was cross contaminated. Anyway if you’re a foodie, or in my case- not - this is a dope spot. Two thumbs up an a little pinky for when I’m drinkin cocktails 🍹

I was dying to go here ever since I knew Sophina and Will had opened this. I was back in NOLA and spent an evening there gorging myself on the amazing food. I don't eat meat (just fishies), and there were so many options for all diets. . . even gluten free. The food was AMAZEBALLS! I love some spice, but was a little scared. The spice level was perfect; there was flavor and spice in the food, but it didn't build and burn your tongue and esophagus off. I can't wait to go back and eat even more. I recommend a flowy dress or pants with a whole lotta stretch in the waist :).
