Mizuna Restaurant and Wine Bar

Mizuna has been my go to downtown restaurant for years, tonight however was a complete disappointment. My scallops had a beautiful sear and were delish, however the accompanying risotto was under done and full of butternut squash. My gluten free/vegetarian friend had ordered the risotto main and her entire entree was underdone, full of squash and tasted like fish. My friends and I meet there every year to have wine, food and a wonderful holiday visit- we are willing to pay for the experience. That did not even come close to happening this evening.:….at one point during our lengthy wait for food, I went to the bar to get my own glass of wine! I did not take out my disappointment on the wait staff- but rather waited to submit my concerns to management.

Interesting menu items, most gluten-free possible. Food itself ok. While potato dill soup had an interesting flavor, it had a grainy consistency. The seared scallops were greasy, and soggy on the outside. They were also over salted. Asparagus was cooked past green. Service was...casual. When he asked about the entrée, it was late into the meal. When I said it was "OK" he said "Oh, ok" and left. If you factor in the price point, this review would be 2 stars.
