This is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Seattle. They have a huge menu covering so many categories of sushi, grilled items, fried items, and traditional appetizers. It's a great menu with plenty of gluten-free options. Even the fried chicken!
I just wish the menu was better optimized for the phone because it's a QR code PDF that you have to pinch, scroll, and zoom a lot. I remember when they had paper menus but I guess those are all gone now... Also, apparently they have a dessert menu but it is not on their menu website from what I can tell. I think it would be smart to include it so people can plan for dessert instead of being surprised at the end when being told by the server!
The ambiance is pretty dim and reminds me of the Japanese essay "in praise of shadows". There is even a beautiful Japanese garden in the courtyard that is open in the summer for dining. Unfortunately it is very noisy inside when the restaurant is half full or more. They seriously need to invest in some soundproofing. It's all wood and concrete. Having to yell over the noise ruins any romantic vibe you may have on a date, in my opinion.
Get the chawan mushi, it's a rare find.
