Moorland Cottage Cafe - Best Scones On The Coast

My wife and I drive from Sydney to Coffs regularly and have always stopped for a break along the way. Being a Coeliac my wife "got wind" of Moorland Cottage. A few hundred metres or so off the highway access was easy and on arrival we were both impressed by the atmosphere the owners had managed to generate. I had Devonshire coffee and my wife Devonshire tea. For a coeliac to be able to have scones at a cafe is almost a miracle and she enjoyed the moment immensely. Mine too was wonderfu,l made all the better by generous lashings of real cream and quality jam. It was a cold winter's day so the open fire completed the perfect cosy setting. My only complaint was that after placing our order and taking our seat mine arrived in good time. However some takeaway customers came along before my wife's order arrived and she was "forgotten" for 15 minutes or so. Mine was almost finished before hers arrived. A bit disappointing. We didn't dine there so I can't reliably comment on the hot meals but what I saw at other tables looked really good. Overall a wonderful cafe experience.

So good! Healthy clean food. Fast, reasonable prices, delicious food & friendly team! A ton of gluten free options. Neat shady area to sit as well 👍👍

Best place to stop ever between Taree and Port Macquarie. Hilarious free range chickens. Magnificent rooster. Fun goat. Very helpful with my coeliac. Lovely relaxing environment and excellent food. Would love to come by again and am very happy we stopped here :)
