We had a late lunch at Akarua and explained that our friends needed to catch a flight so had limited time. The maître d’hôtel was so good. Charming, efficient and made sure everything worked perfectly. The food is mouth watering delicious -we had the succulent pork belly with poached pears and potatoes that had been boiled , then smashed and deep fried to a golden crispy perfection that was light and fluffy. Even though I had forgotten to tell them I had coeliac disease when ordering they accommodated all my wishes and more - graciously and smoothly (without making me feel I was stupid about forgetting). Our service was prompt and informative and delightful. The wine is well matched and the whole atmosphere is one of people eating and drinking and laughing and enjoying life. A very special place with excellent staff, a gifted chef and delicious, scrumptious food and wine.
