I came to the Morningside Tavern on a quiz night.
The atmosphere of the place is trendy and up-market. A nice built environment. Quick service if you order at the bar (see below).
A range of options for different dietary needs (gluten free, dairy free options are clearly listed on the menu). I did not eat anything whilst at the tavern, but loved to see this on the menu.
The reason I’m giving a low scoring review was because of my experience with the non-alcoholic drinks.
I checked the menu before going, then decided to order through the QR code on the table. Ordered a Sweet 16 mocktail. It didn’t come for a few rounds of the quiz, so went up to the bar, and they made it for me. I’m just not sure why the order never went through to the bar even though I had paid (and had the e-receipt for it).
And I found that the QR code menu was different for non-alcoholic beverages were different from those on the menu. I’m not sure why this was, either, but I spotted a couple of drinks on there I was keen to try. So after I had my first drink, I went to the bar (since QR ordering didn’t work) and ordered a nojito (listed on the QR ordering menu, but not the paper menu). The server said they didn’t make those (why can you order them via QR?), so I tried ordering a house soda (which was on the QR app AND paper menu) and he said they don’t do those (even after making sure they didn’t make the thing literally listed on the menu).
This seems small, but it’s really irritating when the menu is inaccurate.
Please align the QR and paper menus, and remove stuff that’s not make-able.
If the staff can’t serve one item on the menu, it would be great for them to suggest something else that would be similar, rather than just a ‘no’.
