Motel Mezza Social Bar

Motel Mezza was a fantastic discovery. Exactly 1/2 way between Sydney and Newcastle, we met with family for a birthday celebration. One of our group is a Coeliac, and so having a restaurant that was serious in ensuring that there was no gluten cross contamination, was such a relief and greatly appreciated. The staff were friendly and attentive, without being intrusive, and here was a lovely musician/singer adding to the fabulous decor and ambiance. We will definitely be returning and recommending.

We met old friends we hadn't seen for a few years at Motel Mezza for dinner. It was a little noisy and the wait staff, recognising that, proactively offered to move us to a table in "the vault" - apparently a real (former) bank vault - to make our conversation easier. That was the beginning of a very pleasant evening of excellent service, great food, and excellent wine. We ordered the custom banquet and chose all gluten free options to accommodate one of our diners. The Mezza team transparently, and unbidden, ensured that the gluten free compromises didn't impact on the rest of us. In my experience this is rarely done and even rarely done as smoothly. We were the last to leave but there was absolutely no pressure for us to wrap up and leave until we were ready. All up, a fantastic experience and we'll be back next time we're in the area.
