Mountain Flying Fish is, if not the best, among the top 2. We come to Breckinridge for a week or two every year. We try to have dinner here twice.
The atmosphere is cozy. Depending on the season there are outdoor tables available. Liquor is available and we generally have hot sake.
The fish is extremely fresh and the wait staff will intelligently answer questions on the food, drink, and preparation of any item on the menu.
We will generally sit at the sushi bar and watch the food prep. They open at 5pm and by 6pm there is a line. Despite the line we have never felt rushed or pressured to move on.
The food is fairly priced for the quality and quantity received but sushi dinner for two with sake will run between $80 and $110. We generally have two or three rolls and 6 to 8 nigiri.
They have an excellent gluten free soy sauce available on request.
