MudBugs - A Cajun Joint

Today came in & ordered the calamari as brunch. We’ve ordered it many times before and most of the time it’s good but today half of it was so overcooked that it was completely hard and inedible not to mention the way that impacts flavor of what was edible. Barely ate 4 ounces of normal sized calamari slices cooked properly. Visually you could see that it was way overcooked and crumbly, I’m not sure why it would be sent out. Sadly this isn’t the first time our meal preparation accuracy and quality has been inconsistent when we’ve come in to order various items on the menu. We’ve kept trying because we are gluten free but after today it will likely be even longer before we return again.

We love Mudbugs! We've been for lunch once and dinner maybe 15 times since it opened. The food is always delicious, big bonus that 95% of the menu is gluten free! Drinks are strong and tastey.

I really wanted to give this place five stars, because the food was absolutely delicious. Here's the issues we had. I'm Celiac. My husband is gluten intolerant. We went here after rave reviews from my Celiac groups. The calamari was so delicious. My husband's shrimp and grits was amazing. One of my oysters was just the shell and breading, no oyster. Not fun biting into that. LOL. The chocolate trifle was so delicious. The waiter wasn't all there. Seemed distracted and service wasn't great. But the reason for the two stars came after. My husband was sick all night. Not sure if he ate gluten or got food poisoning.
