I ate here as a coeliac on Sunday and I was told that my food would be safe due to the chicken being prepared in a separate area of the grill. The girl who served me was really helpful, went through the menu with me to highlight that my order definitely did not contain any gluten.
I ordered butterfly chicken, tenderstem broccoli and rice, so only the chicken was at risk of being cross-contaminated with gluten.
I have eaten at Nando’s before and had good experiences, hence the reason for coming back. However, I have never eaten at this particular branch.
The following morning I woke up in agony, still am, and I believe that this was due to my food was cross-contaminated. I read on another review from April that the manager advised a particular customer to not order the chicken due to the risk of contamination, and I was not told this upon ordering.
It’s a shame that this one experience has ruined Nando’s for me, but I would now deem this unsafe personally and won’t be able to visit Nando’s again. I advise other coeliacs to ask in full detail how and where the chicken is prepared if you are to risk it.
