We visited Calgary in the summer of July 2024 and figured we had to go to a steak place for the Alberta beef. Found Nick’s and its rave reviews via google search. The place is not much of a looker… very old school and dark colours. But man, the steak??!! You can tell by the look on my son’s face how excited he was to eat the 12oz ribeye. So juicy and perfectly medium rare. I would visit again and again if I lived close by.
Dan the man was our server and he really *was* the man. Dan was awesome, so attentive without being hovering or intrusive. He took the time to make sure we were well cared for. My oldest has a severe gluten allergy and Dan recommended some gf dishes. At first he said the rice was safe. But then he came back after checking with the kitchen to let us know there was traces of gluten in it (probably due to the chicken broth it is cooked in). My son ended up getting the salmon and baked potato.
Overall I give this place 5/5. Classic example of don’t judge a book by its cover. It’s not a looker, but you will leave super happy with satisfied tastebuds and full bellies.
