I've been to No Frill a few times, but not in a couple of years. I asked for a GF menu and chose the Salmon Salad (choice of blackened or smoked). THANK GOODNESS for our server! He informed me that most of their proteins are marinated in a mixture that contains soy sauce -- traditional sauce is made with wheat! Why is that not notated on the GF menu? Our server was celiac aware, thankfully! I had to choose the smoked salmon. The salad was good, but our server was the best, and I really wish I had gotten his name! Of you are celiac or GF, be aware their GF menu may not be totally GF. Be sure to ask!

I never before have been to an establishment where, due to a kitchen error, and a patron didn’t get their meal, that a manager didn’t come out and apologize. Because I’m gluten-free, I had to wait, wait… on a menu, wait on confirmation from the chef that items on the gluten-free menu were not actually gluten-free; I wanted the artichoke dip but after a long wait I finally flagged down the waitress only to finally discover there would be no dip, I learned there was a shared fryer and the chips listed are not gluten-free. So, I ordered the Spotswood salad and asked for blue cheese dressing. When it came, again I had to flag down our waitress to confirm the nuts on the salad were gluten-free. I’d asked her when I ordered but she hasn’t gotten back to me. But now my husband was close to finishing his meal, I plopped on the dressing, only to taste that it was horseradish sauce! Again, I flagged down my waitress who asked if I wanted another salad…. It has been long enough. Everyone was finished eating-we had to get back to the hospital and we had to go. Poor form No Frills.. No apologies. Hmm.
