We visited the Oaks last week for a family Birthday breakfast. The staff had our table all set out and ready, and we received a warm welcome.
Unfortunately the hot counter had barely any food, most of the containers were empty, and there was no staff around to request our vegan sausages from. We waited 10 minutes then went back up, but again barely any food and no staff. We tracked down the lady who welcomed us and asked her to pass on our order. We waited over 25 minutes for 4 sausages. In the meantime I ate two hash browns and a scraping of beans from the empty pot because I was too hungry to wait (and as I'm a gluten free vegan I couldn't eat any of the cereal or toast/pastries/yogurts etc). Both hash browns were burnt and one was very definitely left over from the day before. It was so stale and tasted really awful. We have been previously and had a lovely breakfast so I'm not sure what went wrong this time.
The tables are chipped, worn and sticky. The chairs are not very clean, and the floor is disgusting. It's such a shame as it used to be lovely at the Oaks, and it's clear it desperately needs some tlc. And a bit of thought needs to be spared for accessibility, there's just no room for wheelchairs with the current layout.
