Offset BBQ

Best BBQ in Chicago! Food is amazing, cocktails are great, staff is super friendly. They're also celiac and gluten free friendly!

This review is for dine in on a Friday night, although I've gotten takeout from here twice before. You should definitely try it. The sandwiches have a generous portion of meat, and the Abuelita bowl is so pretty and filling that I couldn't finish it. The pork is probably the best meat and they have a larger menu for dine in than takeout. The back room is large and has a decent atmosphere, with two TVs. Service is also amazing. One star is removed for the drink menu - while I understand Offset is across from a school and they don't want a huge bar, I wish they revised their menu to have some more classic and less sweet drinks. For example, they don't have and couldn't make an old fashioned - arguably Chicago's favorite cocktail - on the menu. They have a rum old fashioned, which was way too sweet for my taste. There were no whiskey based drinks on the menu....at a BBQ joint! Also their pricing is a bit all over the place for me. I think the Abuelita bowl and sandwiches are fairly priced, the meat by the pound slightly overpriced and the sides are a bit overpriced - eg $5 for one sweet potato and $5 for one ear of elote corn (which is very good but hard to eat if you're trying to share it, since they don't serve it with a knife). Finally I wish they labeled gluten free menu items on the menu. They don't have them listed but they can accommodate. In short definitely check it out and I'm sure it will continue to get even better!
