Oscar's of Summerville

We went to Oscar's for dinner for a first time visit, and the server was exceptional, even as he was training someone new. The menu was carefully explained to us, and although they didn't have a specific gluten-free menu, the server was very quick to assure me that he could let me know what dishes could be modified for my allergy. My husband had the crab legs for an appetizer (very nice portion size) and the grilles trio oscar-style. I had the braised short ribs. We both had the collard greens (soooo good) and my husband loved the Mac and cheese. The food was wonderful! When I asked about the dessert menu, they showed me the two desserts that were gluten-free. I told them that I was a little disappointed because I was hoping for something with chocolate. Our server told me that he knew they had chocolate torte cake yesterday and could check to see if they still had some leftover. SURPRISINGLY, THEY DID!!!! And that cake was so good! Truly everything was wonderful, and our first visit here is something we won't forget.

For those planning to dine anywhere other than the bar, I highly recommend making a reservation, as the place was abuzz with satisfied patrons. The staff demonstrated remarkable efficiency, friendliness, and knowledge, contributing to the overall positive experience. Although I would have appreciated more gluten-free options, of the two available choices, particularly the short ribs, exceeded expectations. The gluten-free short ribs were not only delicious but also remarkably tender—each bite with the collard greens and mashed potatoes was a culinary delight that left me exclaiming, "Soo Gooood!" The grouper bites (not gluten free), fried to perfection, showcased a delicate balance of tenderness and crispiness. The expert preparation spared them from any of the sogginess that can sometimes accompany fried fish. Oscar's commitment to quality and flavorsome dishes makes it a dining destination worth savoring, despite the limited gluten-free options. Overall, a delightful experience that will undoubtedly bring me back for more.
