Osteria Elio Volpe

Elio is our new neighbourhood favorite restaurant! We went for a special birthday in October. The cocktails, wine & atmosphere speak for themselves and the Italian inspired dishes are fresh, creative and incredibly flavourful. We chose to do the chefs tasting menu and they were able to make dishes gluten free so I could be part of the experience! The anti-pasta, risotto, wagyu beef, salads, chicken, everything… was fabulous. Above all else though, the service is what stood out. As a young person who is newly hearing impaired and requires an aid, I did not think to specify on my reservation. To be clear, the atmosphere is not noisy, but sitting by an open kitchen with a hearing aid can feel overwhelming. I quietly asked if we could be moved away from the open kitchen and I was met with understanding and compassion. We had a wonderful experience with no issues at our new table. And the hostess who had seated us checked in at the end of the night to see how I found the table as she would mark it on my account for future visits. I can’t tell you what that meant and the thoughtfulness showed how much this establishment cares about their patrons experience. I’ve already been back since and hope it remains as a staple in our hood!

Really good food and great service! Enjoyed the steak and Sicilian margarita! The place is also stunning! Only downside was that there was no gluten free option for pizzas or pasta which they specialize in, wish they would introduce gluten free pasta at all of their locations!
