What was always one of my favourite restaurants was unfortunately disappointing. Food was fine but inconsistent, team made some nice efforts, but didn’t live up to the standards they have set for themselves.
I am not one to write reviews, but was left feeling quite disappointed with one of my long time favourites.
830 birthday reservation, were sat at 850, nice touch of Prosecco for birthday once we did sit down. Salads were good, initially were sold out of ribeye, but ‘found’ one for us which was kind. Two in our group are gluten free, salads came quickly, pastas came around 940, and were excellent as usual.
Meats did not land until after 1030 (40 mins between courses), and no one came to check on us between courses for us to even ask when the next was coming - the two gluten free in our group had not eaten since the salads (didn’t stage their mains to give them something in the middle), so half our group was hungry and so we lost a bit of steam. When the steaks landed, they were cold unfortunately and one was undercooked (leaning more rare rather than medium rare), tasted fine - but should not land cold after more than a 40 min wait, chicken was not as good as I remember. Restaurant was emptying out - we had lost energy by the end, asked for bill quickly, they did bring a scoop of gelato and a candle which was nice.
Wouldn’t rush back, although the team made nice efforts - I expect more of this restaurant.
