Oval Room Brasserie

It was our first time visiting the Oval Room Brasserie and we can’t wait to come back! We were staying at The Fort Garry Hotel and figured we should try out the dining experience there. We had dinner with family/friends and we all enjoyed the evening immensely. The atmosphere is hard to beat with authentic architecture dating back to the early 1900s. We started out trying a few cocktails - the menu was so fun to browse through and these did not disappoint. We tried the Toffee Negroni, the London Fog Martini and the pear spritzer. I am Celiac and cannot eat gluten. There were a number of safe options for me and our server and chef were both knowledgeable and accommodating - down to serving me house made gluten free crackers and humus while the others had breadsticks. We enjoyed the garlic shrimp and devilled egg trio as appetizers. Our company ordered the warm olives and calamari. For entrees our table ordered the salad niçoise, filet mignon, brazed beef and the lamb shank. Everyone found their meal delicious and cooked to order. We had to pass on dessert as we had no room, but look forward to trying some next time we visit. I want to say our young server’s name was Sam however I don’t recall for sure. She was excellent! She was attentive yet didn’t swarm. Needless to say we will be coming back. The ambiance, food and service is 5 star. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A short walk from the VIA Rail station. They provided a very nice beet and grilled halloumi salad with chicken skewer, gluten-free, while we waited for the train to be re-supplied.

Mother's Day brunch here was just outstanding. Massive buffet with an omelet station, carving station, sushi station, ice cream station, piano player etc etc. TONS of clearly labelled gluten-free options (usually hard to find) which i appreciated immensely. Staff were terrific and when my son casually requested something they didn't have they actually went downstairs and found it for him.
