Plus+ | Breakfast & Lunch Spot in Ghent

Recently visited Plus+ for a quick lunch. Located in the center of the city, the restaurant offers a menu that caters to gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian diets. I ordered the Sweet Potato Chili which was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. It’s a dish that I would recommend to anyone seeking a hearty yet healthy option. My friends, who are locals, were equally impressed. The Roasted Leeks in the Go Green dish were cooked well, offering a smoky and earthy flavor that complemented the freshness of the greens. Another highlight was the Hummus Lovers dish - it was a creamy, rich, and flavorful treat that truly lived up to its name. The ambiance of “Plus” is warm and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for both travelers and locals alike. Overall, Plus+ is a gem in Ghent’s culinary scene.

Points for vegan/gluten free options, but man, was the place a let down. I was hoping the place would be at the same level as O’yo or Lokaal, but all it was was expensive. The portions of some of the dishes are somewhat unpredictable. For example, the pancakes were almost as expensive as a brunch menu but the portions were so small, they were like mini pancakes. One brunch combo (with pancakes) was therefore less filling than the other combo. We were told by the staff that the pancakes aren't meant to be seen as a filling meal, but rather a dessert, even though the price is as good as the price of a whole meal. Burgers were okay in portioning, though an extra side dish was needed to feel full. A small soup was REALLY small, probably a coffee cup’s worth. Coffee was basic, in size and taste. Chocolate milk lacked oomph. My friends and I were laughably disappointed in the meal as it was expensive for what we got. I am glad, at least, that they were mindful with food allergies and were helpful enough to help avoid allergens. Would not recommend.
