Paina Waikiki Luau

I planned months in advance to make sure our guests with celiac disease could safely eat at this event. I confirmed multiple times that gluten-free meals would be handled carefully in the kitchen to avoid cross-contamination, and I was reassured each time that this would not be a problem. We were told to notify staff again at check-in, which we did. Unfortunately, the experience was the complete opposite of what we were promised. The staff at check-in were dismissive and told us that almost everything was gluten-free, except for two items. When I clarified that we needed separate plates for our guests with celiac disease, they reluctantly agreed to prepare them — but those plates were never brought out. To make matters worse, the buffet setup was clearly not safe for anyone with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease. Bread was the first thing served, and even though each dish had its own utensil, utensils were touching people’s plates as they served themselves. As a result, two out of three of our gluten-free guests became sick that night from cross-contamination. This was incredibly disappointing and frustrating after months of planning and clear communication. If you or anyone in your group has food allergies or celiac disease, I would strongly advise avoiding this luau, regardless of the assurances they give you. They are not equipped to handle dietary restrictions safely or respectfully.

Absolutely phenomenal show!! The food was amazing especially loved the pork and prime rib. My husband has a gluten allergy and to our surprise only a few of the vast buffet items had gluten so he had a great variety of foods he could enjoy. The show was amazing and very well done. I highly recommend it. It’s worth every penny.
