Palay

We wandered in directly from our flight to find exceptional food, great taste in music, and kind and quick service. The truffle adobo fries were an excellent start (especially as we were a bit on the hungrier side). We followed this up with a sisig and silog to share between two. Perhaps it's some personal bias but Fillipino cuisine to me always feels best when it errs on the side of focused, simple, and homemade. Palay does exactly that. While no one dish "blows you away" the entire meal (and menu) felt intentionaly crafted and excels in it's balance of spices. (Oh and did I mention all the dietary restrictions are listed and nearly 95% of the items were gluten free!) As if the food wasn't good enough, our server was incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful in answering questions about the pandan latte (5/5 stars) and even recommendations on where we could find some good jewelery shopping nearby. Overall my review of Palay is this. Brunch was great, and if I lived in Melbourne I'd be back for dinner soon.

I’ve been here for brunch and dinner and loved it both times. The menus had classic Filipino dishes but elevated and well balanced. Had lots of vegan options and most dishes were gluten free. Staff were super friendly and the place had very chilled atmosphere.
