I find it utterly ridiculous that to order a gluten free sandwich, I have to pay the same price as a regular sandwich but I am getting served half the amount of food. It is bad enough when restaurants charge extra money just for someone to eat a gluten free bun, but to be asking for that much money for that little food is disrespectful. Eating gluten free for many people isn't an optional lifestyle choice. It is medically necessary, and we shouldn't have to break the bank to eat out. What this is is ableism based in capitalism. The food here is sub par for the price I am paying. There are a few things that are definitely good enough that maybe the price is okay, but the vast majority is not. The kindness and skill of the staff is the one redemptive quality of the establishment. They are excellent servers and baristas. Every employee I interacted with was delightful.

We have never been here before. After looking over what was available we decided on a ham and cheese croissant and a hot chocolate for me. My partner is GF and was going to get a muffin, but the young woman waiting on us suggested their gluten free focacia bread with her choice of available meats or fillings. She had a double cappuccino and an Aperol spritz. The young woman was so helpful and sweet. The hot chocolate was decadent and the best I've ever had, while my partners cappuccino made her eyes roll back in her head it was so good. The food came out and it followed with the beverages, SO good! My partner ate the top of the focacia bread and was in heaven. If you are in Halifax, you must stop in!!
