Part-Time Lover is an aesthetically appealing restaurant located on Paul Kelly Lane, but its service needs improvement. I visited the establishment for a breakfast catch-up on Thursday, January 30th, around 8:00 AM and spoke with a waiter named Sam. We agreed to swap my sourdough toast with butter and jam for a gluten-free option, which was rice-based. I was excited when my dish arrived swiftly—until Sam admitted his mistake. He had given me the gluten-filled sourdough instead of the gluten-free alternative. While it was tasty, it was not what I had ordered. When I pointed out the error, he admitted that he hadn’t been listening properly due to the questions I asked about gluten-free options. This was disappointing to hear, as attention to dietary requirements is crucial. Fortunately, I did not experience an anaphylactic reaction, but such carelessness should not go unnoticed. I strongly urge the restaurant to train its servers more thoroughly on the importance of food safety, especially for customers with dietary restrictions. Additionally, the venue’s cleanliness needs improvement as a cockroach greeted me on my way out.
