This place was excellent and the service by Patrick blew me away. He was more than thorough with the menu, he was a walking encyclopedia. Very accommodating, splendid demeanor, and attentive. He even offered to replace my lobster bisque since it came out way before my friend's dish--I declined, and although it was cold by the time I ate it, it was still delectable with plenty of lobster chunks rather than mere bits like most places. My friend said her steak was cooked to perfection, and Patrick was very knowledgeable with the questions he asked in terms of the cut and temperature she preferred. Apparently the horseradish is something to behold as well! The cocktails are very fun, reasonably priced for the location and atmosphere. And you can't beat those views of the tide coming into the sand as boats pass while locals picnic on the grass. We were privileged with a breathtaking sunset you can only get in San Diego. My one and only complaint is that although they knew it was my friend's birthday, they did not provide a complimentary dessert as I thought was pretty customary for restaurants. Granted, she has Celiac disease (yes, legitimately), so there is unfortunately not a lot suitable for this on their dessert menu--Patrick recommended scraping off the crust, but this regrettably is not an option for people with the disease as it risks contamination, so I am going to chalk this up to being less of an oversight and more of a safety precaution they decided to do by avoiding a bday dessert altogether. I am not sure if they had ice cream or something they could have just served with a candle, but my friend felt a bit dejected. My suggestion would be to communicate these concerns rather than having her feel left out for something she can't control. Still 5 stars, though I would say 4 1/2 if that were possible on here. Again, top service otherwise and the establishment is beautiful. We will still be back!

Overpriced, underwhelming. You're mostly paying for the view and the ambiance. We chose to go during a less busy time. We were there for just under 3 hours, just for a main course and a dessert (no drinks appetizers, etc.). That feels much too long. Restrooms weren't clean. (Used paper towels on counter, trash on floor in stall.) They had a VERY difficult time accommodating for allergies, even for a common one—wheat/gluten—they couldn't give us a list of which items were GF, just to narrow things down some. We asked to speak to a manager or head chef (which is what we always do at pretty much every restaurant we dine at), and we were told they'd check but it was probably too busy. And so, our server had to go back and forth to check on this item, then this item, then this one... It was a bit exasperating. We weren't trying to be difficult, but we could have used some more specific help. The food was just okay. We both ordered the salmon. Liked the salmon, didn't care for the vegetables. We ordered their in-house made macadamia but ice cream and the macadamia nut creme brulee. The ice cream was better. There was something missing from the creme brulee, not sure what. We rated it a 6 out of 10. We actually ended up mixing the ice cream bites in with the creme brulee to take it up a notch.
