I was in this Bistro a few weeks ago with two dear friends, on the occasion of a musical evening with the pianist and singer Beppe Summo. I admit that initially I went there mainly to listen to his music because as a vegan the menu didn't include many dishes that reflected my needs, so I ordered a ciccio with some vegetables on the menu.
I was pleasantly surprised.
Meanwhile, as a cover, they brought us some really delicious taralli and focaccia made by them (unfortunately I don't have any photos because they ran out in an instant), then we shared some homemade chips (different from the usual frozen chips) and the waiter was very prepared and friendly.
I was skeptical about the ciccio because I am an admirer of alternative doughs and in addition to the classic they only had gluten-free, but I trusted the fact that their dough included a mixture of different flours, with sourdough and long leavening.. .and I did well! Because their dough was truly one of the tastiest and most digestible I've ever eaten!!!
Not to mention that the vegetables were all prepared by them and were spectacular, unlike the classic pickles (which in some cases are practical).
I also appreciated the amount of vegetables they put in, when sometimes you order a pizza with asparagus and they put 3 asparagus on top and don't even season it, because many ignorant restaurateurs believe that vegans eat "light".
After the ciccio, the waiter offered us a very particular amaro and specified to me that they don't like classic things, a statement with which I found myself in great agreement because if one goes out to eat it is to eat slightly different foods. ' most sought after classics that could eat anywhere.
Having said that, I was getting feverish because of the bill which I feared would be salty, but instead, in addition to being the right quality-price ratio, they also offered us some extra taralli and focaccia which we had requested anyway, which we really appreciated given that nowadays everything costs more and they even make you pay for the air you breathe. Even the musical accompaniment was included, while in some places you pay as a separate cover charge (which I find absolutely unfair where the food is very expensive).
Furthermore, the location is very nice and I appreciated the fact that you could book via WhatsApp.
Speaking of the musical evening, however, I must say that I didn't particularly enjoy it because we were sitting at the back and unfortunately we could hear very little, but I appreciated the musician who also involved us to sing along with him. In my opinion, a gesture of great humility and at the same time professionalism.
What can I say, I will return as often as I can and I will always talk about it on a positive note, recommending it to friends and people I know, with the only hope of finding more vegan-friendly choices on the menu.
