As someone with Celiac disease, I was excited to see that every page of their menu says to “ask about gluten-free options”. Unfortunately, the servers are not well-versed in what gluten-free really means.
During two separate visits after asking about gluten-free options, separate servers recommended deep-fried items that could be made with cornstarch breading, however upon further questioning I determined that they used the same fryer as everything else so it wouldn’t be Celiac safe.
It seems like their go-to gluten-free option is to just swap each dish’s sauces and spices with a white garlic sauce. Once I ordered GF Kung Pao Chicken and once I ordered GF Chicken with Wood Ear Mushrooms and both times I received the same stir-fried chicken with vegetables and white sauce.
Overall, it was a bit disappointing. If only they were able to alter their dishes with tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce and use a separate fryer or make things stir-fried instead of deep-fried, those of us who are gluten-free would have so many more options.
