I'll start by saying I love Pho Evergreen which is the sister restaurant to Pho Golden but they were closed today due to a death in the family (went there and saw the sign on the door). So decided to try Pho Golden. Was a little slow in getting food out. But my real issue is that the Vietnamese egg rolls (I love) which at Pho EV are wrapped in rice paper and fried ARE NOT made the same at Pho Golden. They are wrapped in rice paper and battered with something containing gluten. Upon first bite (after 20 min of driving home, so not hot) my mouth had a burning sensation and swelled up. I am not celiac but have a gluten sensitivity. I now have a splitting headache and upset stomach. About 15 minutes after holding ice water in my mouth I was only able to eat half the food and no more of the 2 egg rolls I paid ($22 for 1 entrée and 2 egg rolls) for believing it was supposed to be the same. Still hungry but my stomach is saying no!!! Please do it the same way as the Pho EV. The egg roll were absolute perfection there. Don't change a winner. The are literally the only egg rolls I can eat, usually, without fear of a reaction.
