After a long day of driving from Canberra to Melbourne, we were looking for something to curb our hunger.
A quick internet search revealed Pier 33 Fish and Chips, less than 300 metres from our accommodation!
A quick phonecall confirmed they were open AND had gluten-free options available!!
My wife chose the gluten-free blue grenadier, chips and a potato scallop (potato cake for the weirdos who call it the wrong thing).
I had an O.G. Beef Burger with chips.
These meals did not disappoint - they were full of flavour!
The gluten-free batter for the fish was light and crispy. The burger was juicy and just the right amount of sauce.
We had a great conversation with the hosts, which lead to a discussion about the best ingredients for gluten-free batters and how many variations they went through to get the right one.
We were so impressed that we promised to come back again before we returned home - which we did on our last night in Melbourne.
We both had the blue grenadier and again were super impressed with the food and the service.
We shared some of our gluten-free gingerbread cookies with the hosts, which they loved.
We will definitely be back to visit whenever we come to Melbourne.
I highly recommend Pier 33 Fish and Chips to anyone and everyone!
