Pier Market Seafood Restaurant

We chose this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend who particularly appreciated the gluten free options. I loved the crab cakes and appreciated the wine selection. The clam chowder was shockingly flavorless. It was too loud to have a conversation and the expected bay view was not visible from our seats. I found the experience disappointing overall, it just felt like an overcrowded tourist trap. We were there on a busy Saturday night and our server seemed new, so perhaps a less busy time would be more enjoyable. We had a reservation and did not wait for a table, and the prices were reasonable.

I'm celiac. I've explained many times that my food must be gluten-free, and they gave me a Caesar salad with croutons! DON'T GO THERE. The food is terrible and expensive.

Great selection of seafood. Allergy information is readily available including clearly marked gluten free choices on the main menu. Excellent location with a fantastic view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Solid alcoholic drink menu. Prices are reasonable for being not only in San Francisco but located on Pier 39. I've been here twice, and if you decide to get a cocktail I would recommend spending the extra $3-4 to upsize it. You'll get more value that way!
