While I appreciate that they try to accommodate gluten free, I have been disappointed far too many times to go back.
We ate here last night as the rest of my family wanted fish sandwiches. I ordered a French dip sandwich on a gluten free bun. It arrived on a fully gluten-FILLED bun and when I questioned it, the waitress took it back. She stopped back at our table to let us know that they were remaking it but that the bag the hoagie roll was in “wasn’t marked” so they were opening a new bag with a label just to be sure. This is a huge red flag for people with allergies/sensitivities. When you eat enough gluten free bread you’re immediately able to tell the difference between gluten free and real bread!
I literally don’t think they taste their own food. My French dip had NO SEASONING - when I tell you I never usually salt my food, I’m not lying- but this needed so much salt, or ANY KIND of seasoning for that matter. It also had a weird bitter taste to the meat. Their fries are also never salted and very bland. My dads coleslaw tasted old like the mayo went bad.
Last time I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun and it arrived as thin as a coaster and took up about 1/2 the bun. There was even a huge section that was so tough it was inedible. It was actually comical how small it was for the price. I left most of the bun because after 5 bites I had eaten all of the chicken from the sandwich.
It also annoys that they’re so quick to bring you the check with kids meals and never mention that Ice cream is included as their menu states. We always have to ask. If you’re going to take care of your customers, commit to it.
There is WAY better bar food in the Pittsburgh area. Stay far away from Pine Creek Public House.
