We are gluten-sensitive and have eaten gluten-free pizza here several times, which is deliciously prepared. Unfortunately, this time I ordered a seafood pizza and since I was quite hungry, I asked for a double topping. The pizza arrived, the toppings were not double at all, but on the contrary, it had a scallop that was unknown to me. I tasted it, it tasted like pasta. I called the waitress who said it was cancer. I know the taste of crab, I asked back in disbelief, "Are you sure?" The waitress impatiently repeated that it was crab tail. I kept eating, but it didn't taste like crab at all. I googled on the phone what this could be. This is indeed 'surimi', which is made with wheat starch. I was immediately afraid that I would end up vomiting because I have celiac disease. The waitress looked at the ingredients, and then, amid profuse apologies, offered to make another one, which I would not have to pay for. I didn't dare to eat it, I asked for another gluten-free pizza (tuna) to take away the new pizza, but we hurried home so that if we had to throw up,
at least I should be at home. A gesture-level discount from the restaurant would have been nice. I recommend that the cooks and waiters pay more attention, after all, they charge a surcharge for gluten-free pizza, so it should be expected. Celiacs should watch the "suspicious toppings" on the pizza and don't be ashamed to check what is put in front of them. We left very disappointed.
