Today after a morning at the beach we came to try Casa de Padrino in Santa Ponça, after reading on different sites that offered options suitable for celiacs.
Before seeing each other, I called and spoke with what I thought was the owner and she explained to me that I could eat the pasta without any problem, and they would prepare the sauce I wanted. As for the pizza, it is a wood-fired oven. She told me that if I am "very celiac" (I remember there are no degrees of celiac disease), it was better not to, and although some people have told me that they eat pizza here and without a problem, I did not dare and opted for the pasta.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, the waitress who serves us tells me after hello, that EVERYTHING is contaminated, that the flour flies around the kitchen, and that if I want they will prepare a salad for me. I tell her about my phone conversation and then the lady on the phone comes and apologizes and explains again that I can calm down and that she would talk to the girl.
Maybe I'm very new to this thing about celiac disease, but these lack of empathy kill me, as if being celiac were a decision to get upset, and not an illness.
Finally everything was fine, we enjoyed our food and I appreciate the lady's intervention.
