Plein Café Wilhelmina

At first I was very enthusiastic about Plein Wilhelmina, because they have a separate gluten-free menu. First experience with lunch (salad with chicken, without any side dish) was fine, staff was very aware, my plate was brought separately. Second experience (beef strips with potatoes from the oven, with a cup of mayo) also seemed fine, was also served separately, with the indication gluten-free. But I started having problems with my intestines the next few days. I didn't immediately think it was because of the food, but because of the tropical heat. The third time at this restaurant I ordered the salad with chicken and potatoes from the oven with a cup of mayo. First of all, I wasn't too happy that my plate of salad was being held in the same hand as my daughter's baguettes (risk of cross-contamination!). The salad had a different dressing (fortunately served separately) than the first time, so to be sure I asked the waitress whether this dressing was gluten-free. She asked the chef and it turned out that the mayonnaise used for the dressing and served with the potatoes from the GLUTEN-FREE menu is NOT gluten-free. That explained my intestinal complaints, which have now lasted almost a week. The waitress didn't seem very impressed with my shocked reaction. So pay close attention, even if you order from the gluten-free menu!
