I had the best experience recently at Prima in Brownwood. The manager, Tony, came through for me and had the Fig & Goat Cheese Bruschetta made on the cauliflower flatbread crust to make it gluten free! It was such a treat! Thank you Tony and the excellent kitchen and wait staff!!

I want to start off by saying I completely understand that not all establishments are fit to serve food allergies. I’m aware that when i go out to eat i’m taking a risk. but i’m seriously seriously sick from prima. i have celiac disease, meaning I cannot eat any gluten or anything that has touched gluten. If i do, not only does it cause horrible short term stomach pain and vomiting, but long term intestinal damage that could lead to cancer. I ordered spaghetti bolognese, replacing the spaghetti with the gluten free penne. I cleared it with the server, asked him to note a severe allergy, and asked him to cook the pasta in separate water which he confirmed they could do. I don’t blame the server one bit. halfway through eating my meal i’m met with a piece of spaghetti. so i immediately stop eating. I really didn’t want to cause a scene because i’m scared of being a karen. but my boyfriend insisted on notifying the waiter. the item was taken off the bill and we received a card for a free entree next time. The staff was really nice and I understand accidents happen. however my problem is the fact that they made it seem that i would be able to eat a meal that was safe. i would prefer honesty so that way i can save myself from vomiting on the drive home and possible intestinal cancer. I know many people “fake” an allergy, especially gluten for diet fads or whatnot. but please please please take these requests serious in the future, the kitchen staff has no idea the damage they are doing. or if that isn’t possible, notify me that this establishment is not safe for severe allergies.

I do not typically write reviews. But definitely feel that our experience should be shared. I will say that the service was great. The food and drinks were over priced and not very good. We started with the house Sangria. The initial drink tasted like soda. We informed our water and the second sangria was delicious. I ordered the special which was shrimp and scallops with pasta. I ordered just scallops and gluten free pasta due to allergy. The pasta was undercooked and the scallops were rubbery. There were 4 scallops in the dish. I didn’t want to say anything to the waiter. Very disappointed on taste of the dish. My husband had chicken Marsala. The “gravy was cold”. Again disappointing. When the bill came. My special dish was 45.99! I did ask our waiter what typically comes with the special. Didn’t get a straight answer. $20 for 3 scallops. So my pasta was 25.99. We paid the bill. 110. Without tip. I saw a manager on my way out. I explained the situation. He said I should have said something right away. They stand behind their food. Lesson learned. Didn’t want to be a complainer. He did give me a card for free entree next visit. Not sure if I will return. Definitely will not get seafood. The positives were that the gluten free bread was delicious and regular bread was very good.
