Although there was a mix-up in the kitchen that resulted in me being served gluten — which I’m allergic to — what truly stood out was the incredible response from the manager, Saffron. She immediately stepped in with empathy and professionalism. Not only did she offer a full refund, but she also had a fresh gluten-free meal prepared for me to take home, made me a complimentary drink, and checked in on me throughout to make sure I was okay. Saffron’s care turned a scary moment into a much more positive experience. Her service was exceptional — she’s a credit to the team and the reason I’d be happy to come back.

Located at The Ville in Townsville, Quarterdeck is a cool spot for food and drinks. The restaurant is on the first floor of the hotel and you order the food at the counter. You have to find your own seating so depending on the time, the place gets pretty crowded. We got there around happy hour and it was very busy. However, the overall experience was nice. The restaurant service was friendly and professional, the food was good and the view of the hotel was beautiful. On the menu, there were vegan, vegetarian, dairy and gluten-free options. We ordered the hot seafood platter, bbq chicken pizza and prawn crusted barramundi. We really enjoyed all the food and we were happy with the pricing as well. Overall, we recommend this place for the food, the vibe and the view.
