I would have given this restaurant five stars because the food is genuinely delicious, creative, and the atmosphere is great especially in a town that is seemingly so small. It says on the menu to ask about gluten-free options in our server, even if one of us that she is gluten-free herself. However, your gluten-free options are pretty much limited to rice, vegetables and plain meat. Those aren’t gluten free options, those are just gluten free obvious. I’d go to a restaurant and expect lettuce to be gluten free, but having gluten free options at a restaurant is things beyond the expected. When you are catering to children that takes away a majority of their options when they need to be gluten-free, it’s so easy to have a dedicated fryer that you don’t put wheat products into. Expanding the gluten-free options in a small town like this would make it so much more accessible for people with celiac disease or other food allergies. The food is fantastic, so if you don’t have a food allergy definitely give this place a try as it seems like a real gem in a small town, but saying to ask about gluten-free options on the menu seems a bit disingenuous when they’re really aren’t any.

Due to a real love of Cambodia and the Khmer people, my husband and I seek out all Cambodian-associated businesses wherever we are in the world. Imagine my absolute shock when, staying in Caseville of all places, a Google search for ‘Cambodian near me’ pinged a restaurant in Bad Axe! We hopped in the car and we were off, no idea about food, reviews, service…nada. I was equally delighted to find out that the food is excellent, the service is incredible (so many gluten free options!!), the atmosphere is great and, most importantly, the family behind it are some of the best humans on this planet. We spoke to both Chun and Jaclyn for extended periods and, if the stars align, we will meet up in Cambodia later this year - Chun from Bad Axe and us from London, UK - so we can see the wonderful country through Chun’s eyes. 10/10 burgers, 10/10 service, 10/10 people.
