Restaurant Bouillon

I wish I had found this restaurant much sooner during my vacation, it was the single best dining experience I've had in Copenhagen! We took a 3-course menu which, in most of the capital's restaurants, will cost you dearly. The prices at Bouillon were very attractive though, and you can have wonderful gastronomic experience including wine for under 300 DKK. About the food: absolutely amazing! The tartare as first course was freshly cut and well-seasoned with capers and shallot. Up next, the duck was so tender it fell right of the bone. The ratatouille brought me right to the South of France, but was even trumped by the gratin dauphinois. It was delicious and had a nice sweet touch (I'm assuming because of some caramelized onions, but can be wrong). The Merlot wine of French origin was fruity and combined very well with the meaty dishes. The crème brûlée, a classic in the French cuisine, was spot on as well and passed the "spoon-crack test" with success! The presentation of the dishes was never really refined, but I guess that was due to the busy nature of the restaurant, and the focus on taste rather than appearance. The service was fast and friendly, even taking the time to explain about allergens for gluten-intolerant people in our group. A table at Bouillon is in high demand, which is why our reservation was only valid for 1:45 and the personnel really keeps you to that timeline. Nevertheless, we did not feel rushed and had a lovely evening!

Good food for the price, but poor focus on gluten intolerance. No gluten free bread. The creme brulee was far from the best I've had, but for 30 kroner it's almost hard to complain.
