For starters, the atmosphere here is so nice and the baristas are very sweet! I’m so happy that there are so many gluten-free options. The sweet wafflebono, salads, and toasts taste absolutely amazing.
However, as a coffee enthusiast, I have to say that the coffee is just not good.
The cold brew is UNDRINKABLE. I usually order black and cold brew should taste smooth even without added sugar or milk, but the cold brew here tastes sour - not to be confused with bitter (I love unsweetened/bitter). Rather, the cold brew has a sour aftertaste that almost makes me think it is stale. I have ordered cold brew 3x just to give it the benefit of the doubt, but all 3 times resulted in dumping $5 into the sink (even after adding oat milk/coconut milk to try to improve the taste). I once ordered an iced matcha latte and this, too, was undrinkable. It was extremely grainy, which means that they used way too much matcha to water in their ratio.
I might give them another try down the line, but for now, as far as coffee is concerned, I’ll stick to my own coffees and other coffee shops in Ridgewood.
