Salotto Bre - more innovative, inspired, and all around delicious than the last two Michelin-starred restaurants I went to in Vienna. And way more welcoming and affordable. Completely friendly for the gluten-free members of our party with superb options like grilled sea bass, gf fried tofu, gf risotto, and crispy fried polenta. Also appreciated the unique local artisinal comestibles. The first time I visited, I rode the funicular up from Lugano to the top of Mt. Bre, then strolled downhill to the village of Bre Paseu and Salotto Bre restaurant, taking the #12 bus (the stop is 20m from the restaurant) back down. If you catch the #12 anywhere in Lugano, Salotto Bre is at the last stop of an ascent with some spectacular views.
