We had dinner at Giallozucca with some of our guests with whom we wanted to make a good impression but unfortunately our desire was not satisfied The location is certainly nice, with attention to detail and with a lot of personality, nothing can be said about this. But let's move on to the sore points First of all, the service really needs to be reviewed and I like to talk by examples. We had requested a certain bubble but, as poetic license from those who served us, we were served another type of wine, a "classic method of the Solferino areas". Now, I understand that the innkeeper wants to encourage drinking local wines, but showing up at our table, opening the unsolicited bottle and saying "if you don't drink it, I'll drink it" seems really absurd to me. The advice is there, but uncorking a bottle practically morally forces you to drink it, even though you don't know the price (it wasn't communicated to us). Still talking about the service, let's say that it was SLOW and confusing, they forgot the dishes and in general there was no particular finesse. Moving on to the dishes we ate, once again I'm sorry to have to share my negative opinion. They welcome you with an amuse-bouche that adds nothing in terms of dinner experience. Literally a semi-cold artichoke cream where you can taste all the artichoke fibres. To be reviewed. As for the starters, there were 6 of us and as a mixed starter we were given paltry portions that were definitely not suitable for the number of people for whom they were intended. The cured meats were poorly cut and definitely not exceptional. Moving on to the first courses and having ordered the pumpkin tortelli, the typical dish of Mantua, I definitely expected better. The tortello itself wasn't bad, the filling and pasta were good, it's a shame that they were served COLD and the portion was comparable to that of a tasting. I don't expect full restaurant plates, but those portions were outrageous. For the modest sum of 16 euros. The second courses, namely the chicken thigh and thigh, were good, nothing to say. As for the desserts, the Belgian pudding was served badly cut, in the sense that it had an indefinite shape and definitely not presentable in a restaurant of this kind (especially given the price). The sbrisolona semifreddo was mediocre. The sbrisolona, being gluten free since it is made with rice flour, was not the best, but I understand the choice. The bill was disproportionate to how we were treated. In conclusion, I do not recommend it. We need to review the service first (be less annoyed) and then pay more attention to detail. Serving cold dishes is unacceptable.
