Excellent restaurant serving typical Valtellina cuisine located a stone's throw from the beating heart of the center of Bormio.
Equipped with a large outdoor car park and created from the architecture of the ancient family sawmill from the 1400s (from which it takes its name), the Rasiga is a family-run restaurant, where the environment is intimate, rustic and very welcoming.
We had dinner in the large room on the ground floor, entirely covered in wood and furnished in mountain style with the characteristic elements of the Alpine tradition and the ancient instruments of the exposed sawmill, a truly very characteristic environment.
We were served with great competence, kindness and courtesy by the staff, who were able to best advise us in choosing the dishes.
Although a tasting menu was available, we preferred to order à la carte to try different dishes and exchange them.
We tasted the bis sciàtt and pizzoccheri as first courses - delicious! - where the sciàtt (typical buckwheat pancakes) were fried to perfection and the heart of tender stringy cheese was truly delicious.
IMPORTANT: keep in mind that if you have allergies or intolerances, upon reservation you can also order them gluten-free.
Followed by the game ravioli with butter and sage, which I found really excellent and with a tasty but not cloying filling.
For the second course, the jugged deer with polenta (I chose a very delicate taragna polenta with a delicious cheese cream), while my partner "faced" a challenging tzigoiner (literally "meat on a stick" in the Valtellina tradition), a sort of "skewer" of thin slices of beef rolled with bacon and rolled on a fir wood stick.
Special mention for the dessert of the day, an off-menu homemade cake with buckwheat and blueberries, fragrant, very soft and just the right amount of sweet.
Personally we had a really great time and we will definitely be back for an encore the next time we are in Bormio, also because the menu is very varied and one dinner alone is not enough to taste all the dishes!
A warm, welcoming environment, in which - despite its large size - it is possible to dine with a certain privacy, the attentive and smiling service, the truly excellent dishes and the more than honest prices make the Rasiga a perfect restaurant in which to dine and relax after a day of skiing!
Congratulations to all the staff and thanks again for a lovely evening!
