A cool experience at the Steak Room in Boston! I would say the best part about this restaurant is the atmosphere and vibe. We were seated in a booth and it felt like you were sitting on a train and they would cart around the big bowl of fries. The reason I knock off a star is because the steak is decent, but the portion is extremely small. I have Celiac disease and I didn't feel sick after eating here. We would come back!

I went here tonight and was unfortunately told they absolutely do not do gluten free fries and it is cross contaminated. It’s sad because I travelled all the way there just to say the fries. Heads up to any GF people who have eaten here or want to eat here. Super disappointed and will not be back. Old review: 9/10 for GF - This place is fantastic! Nothing is explicitly labeled GF (hence the 9), but many things are! I ordered steak and frites. I asked my server if I should exchange the frites for mashed potatoes. She told me that I can still have the frites if I want. They usually use the upstairs fryer for everything, but there’s another fryer downstairs that is GF. So, they had my fries cooked downstairs. It came with a little GF flag in it. I feel fantastic! 10/10 for flavor - Everything was absolutely delicious. 5/10 for service - I will say, this place is slightly more “high-end” (or at least it wants to be) and the vibe reflects that. There is just an overall air of that in the workers and customers. The only thing that could have made the night better would have been a little bit nicer of service. Don’t get me wrong, she and they were textbook “good” servers: professional; attentive; accommodating; and nice… somewhat. The niceness was very service level and my entire party of 8 actually could feel the judgment and inner annoyance coming out of her. It was very surface level politeness. Also, before we were seated, we went to the bar (they gave us our table like 15/20 mins after the reservation time?) and the servers who kept walking by seemed annoyed by our group standing at the bar (like we were in their way…). The bartenders downstairs were fabulous however. Just, expect a certain air, I guess I’ll call it.
